I am a Professor of Medicine at the University of Split School of Medicine, where my work combines research, doctoral education, academic publishing, and international collaboration.
My research focuses primarily on the peripheral mechanisms of neuropathic pain, and I am the founder and head of the Laboratory for Pain Research. I also founded and direct the Translational Research in Biomedicine (TRIBE) doctoral programme, the only Croatian medical doctoral programme to have received an international High Quality label.
Beyond research, I am particularly interested in improving doctoral education and in the social responsibility of universities and scholarly publishing. In 2022, I launched the Giving Voice initiative to support Ukrainian researchers in publishing their wartime experiences. I am also a member of the Executive Committee of ORPHEUS, the European association for best practices in doctoral education in biomedicine and health sciences.
